Dermal Filler

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are synthetically made gel-like substances for injection into the soft tissues of the face and body. They work to fill in lines and wrinkles, add volume and definition, and can act to support and lift areas of the face that show signs of ageing. There are a variety of different dermal fillers each containing different materials. We use exclusively hyaluronic acid-based products. Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a natural component of your body’s connective tissue that maintains the skin’s strength and elasticity. As a result, the biocompatibility of these products is excellent and allergy occurrence is very rare. They have extensive scientific backing, an excellent safety profile, and predictable, effective results.

How long do the effects last?

The results are not permanent and your body will naturally break down the filler over time. How long the treatment will last will depend on the product chosen and the area treated. Typically the effects on the lips can last anywhere between 6-15 months and on the face between 9-24 months.

How much do dermal fillers cost?
What brand of filler do you use?

We use only the highest quality products from Restylane, Teosyal and Juvederm Vycross ranges. We will discuss which product is most suitable at the consultation beforehand.

How long does it take for the treatment to work?

The results are immediate, however the filler takes 2 weeks to fully integrate into the skin, after which the final result can be seen.

Will I feel pain?

The pain felt is minimal. Topical numbing cream can be applied before the procedure and the products themselves contain local anaesthesia. During lip augmentation a full dental block can be performed to completely numb the area.

How long does it take?

The appointment will take 30-45 minutes.

Which areas can be treated with dermal filler?

Generally, any area of the face can be enhanced with dermal filler.

The most common areas are:

Lips

Cheeks

Jawline and jowls

Chin

Nose

Nasolabial folds

Marionette lines

Under eyes (tear trough)

Is there any downtime or side effects?

The most common side effects include bruising, redness, tenderness, lumpiness and swelling, all of which typically will be fully resolved by 2 weeks. We aim to minimise these side effects as much as possible by using a cannula wherever possible.

We will discuss all the possible side effects in detail before the procedure.
